The City of Commerce City is a place of great recreational and business opportunities. Even with a recent increase in residential growth the sense of community is still evident in Commerce City. And even better... its a great place to work.

Commerce City was incorporated in 1952, bringing together the communities of Adams Heights, Derby, Dupont, Irondale and Rose Hill in a new "City Center," which today is the core of a growing community of more than 50 square miles. Commerce City became a home rule city in 1970. The "Northern Range" area of the city provides 43 square miles of growth corridors for business and residential development amid some of Colorado's greatest natural resources, including the Rocky Mountain National Wildlife Refuge, Barr Lake State Park, the Prairie Gateway area, and numerous trails, open spaces and wildlife preserves.

Just eight miles from downtown Denver, 25 miles from the Denver Technology Center and adjacent to Denver International Airport (DIA), Commerce City is uniquely positioned for business success. Prime areas for commercial development exist in the Northern Range and City Center along the Highway 2, Vasquez Boulevard, Quebec Street, Tower Road, and E-470 corridors, and the Derby area, Ivy-K and various direct access routes to DIA. Opportunities for new retail and service businesses are on track with residential growth, in conjunction with sites for office/warehouse, neighborhood commercial and office park development. In addition, 12% of the City's budget goes toward Capital Improvement Projects to maintain and improve roads, bridges and the beautification of Commerce City.
